Suits for a carpet, groundbreaking: A review of men on red carpets at the Oscars and vanity fair after party
The fashion of men on red carpets leaves you wanting more and craving something new, yet why change something simple such as a suit for clothing that actually has variety. Now most of them look like they are going to a fancy dinner or any other event.
The main colours you will see from them are black and white and possibly some accessories that meet the brief of most events that celebrate those in a range of categories from sport to acting. Those that do attend the same comment are made that is boring and nothing new, however sometimes you will actually get a suit that is a different colour or it has been styled in a different way. That can be exciting to see, but even when that does happen there will still be.
If we look at how the men dress on the carpet from Jacob Elordi, Chris Evans, Leonardo DiCaprio and many more. The suits that they are in do come from fashion houses, but it’s still a very basic style that anyone could copy and it’s nothing exciting for them to be celebrated for the work that they have done.
A very basic suit that could be seen at the Met Gala, Baftas, important dinner and many more events. The suit is from Bottega, which makes it a designer suit but it’s nothing special and it’s very boring. You could see this suit across many events and be okay with it.
Now I do understand that there may be a strict dress code for this event and many like them, however I do think that you could make it more fun and exciting, rather than looking like you just picked one thing and went for it.
Chris is wearing Armani and it’s a similar style to Elordi and most of the men on this carpet.
Mens fashion can be exciting and fun but most men aren’t willing to experiment and try something new that would create a discussion. For example if an actor can wear something out of their comfort zone for a tv show or film, then why can’t you apply some understanding of experimenting on a red carpet or event. However certain men will expand the colour range too. But it’s still a suit that is well tailored, yet for them they are stepping out to make it more exciting.
Leo in a Dior suit similar to Chris and Jacob. Again nothing wrong with it, because its a classic look. However I would prefer something that actually speaks to who he is. All of them have a bow tie, which makes this look as if they are heading to a different event or a different part. just wearing an expensive suit. But you could also argue that they have built up a relationship with the brand, so they gain that access
Now not all of these men wear the same kind of suit and actually deliver something fresh on a red carpet or event. They are willing to take a risk even if most may dislike the risk they take. I would personally like to see more men take a fashion risk, such as if you can use clothing and your skills to create a character then you can clearly use that to wear something more fashion forward. Instead you would rather take the easy option and never change.
